It appears you've had problems with virtual assistants in the past. Hiring or working with a VA is no different than hiring on-site staff. You need to interview them thoroughly, request and follow up on referrals.

I've had some clients for 13, 10 and 5 years. I currently work with 18 clients but I've never lost one due to dissatifcation of my work product. More often they leave a company or their business grows to a point that need to hire some on-site and no longer need my assistance.

I do have team of VAs that I subcontract with and have several (nine total) that I've worked with for 5+ years.

Perhaps you haven't found the right "fit" in a VA yet. Take some time and define what tasks you looking to delegte and how often you need assistance. Say 2 hours a week, 10 hours a month, whatever. Be cautious and consider your budget too.

Begin your VA search with those immediate tasks in mind and find a VA that has experience in that particular area. Start out small and see if your VA can grow with you.

Don't dump everything on your VA at once, use a couple of months to work up to all of the things you need or want to delegate, just as you would an on-site staff member. There is an adjustment period even with VAs. We don't "know" everything about your buisness on day one, we need time to assimilate into your business and integrate our services.

I wish you luck! There are several organizations such as IVAA.org or IAVOA.com that have directories of VAs for you to contact. I suggest you interview at least 3 before making any decision. If you take your time initially, you will find the perfect VA for your business!

How much of this can you ask a virtual assistant to show you that he has the equipment, the plan - so you can be assured of continuity. Having to constantly replace virtual assistants is just as non-productive as other non-productive work. =P
